Tender hearts hopefully commit this day,
To attribute counsel…to the Lord’s way.
No man should suffer–without the Lord,
So long as woman craves His holy word.

Law assigns to govern this lovely decree,
To declare man and woman–with a plea.
Lord, abide with these passionate hearts,
That purify the creature with pure smart.

Stick to the magic–to their heart’s desire,
    While impelling wishes–enhance the pair.
Before God’s creation, we appear to say:
This couple vows a promise of paper clay.

    Whatever a bureaucracy possesses alone,
There are conditions of a heavenly home.
There is no power on the surface of earth,
With the judgement to cancel legal worth.

    Together! they marry to receive the past;
That whoever they are, their love can last.
When the creation distinguishes the loins,
Let no man divide…what God has joined.

Do you take this woman…for your own?
Let love be true–to where hearts belong.
Will you cleave…unto this man of yours?
May heaven witness the right to be sure.

Two lovers are joined–one man and wife,
To have and to hold…for the rest of life.
Invite God’s heaven–to invite these two,
Where love survives by the good they do.
